Classical Guitar Lessons

Hi there!

I am passionate about giving my students the technical and musical basis they need to enjoy playing the guitar. Whether you have prior musical experience or not, are a beginner guitarist or more advanced, I love to help people grow in confidence on the instrument.

I place a strong emphasis on the development of aural skills before and alongside the development of technical proficiency, using approaches drawn from Kodály and Gordon - learning music is like learning another language, after all! This helps to develop competency on the guitar as well as competency in all forms of music-making. I also think the integration of popular styles and techniques into a student's 'inventory' helps make a more well-rounded guitarist. Learning to read TAB and traditional notation also extends a student's capacity to make music in a variety of styles.

I am willing to teach people of all ages and all levels of experience. While I am based north of the river, I am open to travelling further (for a small travelling fee). I charge $70/hour, or $35/half an hour.

If you're interested, or have any questions, I'd love to hear from you.
