Oboe lessons

I am always striving to:

*Inspire students to develop a strong connection with their instrument

*Help them to express musically

*Help them to have a deep appreciation and love of music

I have extensive teaching experience with all age ranges, both within the school system and the private studio environment.

I take the time to assess the individual student’s needs, as no two are the same, whether it be temperament, musical preference, or intelligence.

I have a wide range of worksheets that I have developed myself to address particular aspects of oboe playing to suit the particular needs of the individual student.

I play along side the student frequently, as I find the he/she quickly matches my playing style, tuning and phrasing. Far better that way than by giving dry verbal instruction.

I have a wide range of repertoire at my fingertips to inspire the student.

I am a professional performer and this inspires my teaching.

I am an expert reed-maker, and can teach the student the skills to do it themselves. I can also supply custom-made reeds to suit each player.

I am set-up to make good quality recordings of my students, to aid learning and as a record of achievement for parent and student.

In conclusion, for me, it is all about the playing and finding the joy in the music, and expressing that through this wonderful instrument.
