Hello!
I'm Bigyesh, a dedicated sitar player and teacher with over 16 years of experience in Indian classical music. Now based in Melbourne, Australia, I'm excited to connect with students here and around Australia.
I was fortunate to train in the traditional guru-shishya parampara under the guidance of the renowned Nepali sitar maestro Pt. Tara Bir Singh Tuladhar, whose deep knowledge and artistry continue to inspire my playing and teaching.
In addition to performing and teaching, I am also a music education researcher, which allows me to blend time-honored traditions with contemporary learning principles.
My teaching approach is patient, personalized, and rooted in tradition while employing modern learning methods to transmit the knowledge of ragas — making the concepts clear, accessible, and enjoyable even for complete beginners.
My passion is helping students discover the beauty and depth of ragas through the sitar — whether you're just starting out, an intermediate player looking to refine technique and improvisation, or an advanced musician seeking fresh creative insights.
I also love bridging Indian classical concepts with other instruments. I can guide you in understanding ragas, improvisation, and melodic structure on guitar, piano, or any instrument you play — making the language of Indian music relevant to your own style.
If you're curious about sitar, Indian classical music, or applying raga principles to your instrument, I'd love to help you on your musical journey.
