Flute lessons - all styles

I am a friendly and enthusiastic flute tutor with over 10 years of teaching experience and 20 years of playing.

I teach with a holistic approach, balancing thorough technical advice and practice strategies with musicality, theory, aural skills, history, creativity and body awareness. I strive to understand the unique needs, interests and learning styles of each student and to tailor learning accordingly, while keeping lessons fun and positive.

I believe firmly in the benefits of musical activity- for overall wellbeing, mental and physical development, social skills, self-motivation, creativity and self-expression. My fundamental aim through teaching music is to support a student to connect with and achieve their own musical dreams and sense of self.

I hold a bachelor of music performance (classical with honours) and a Master of Music Therapy.

I have played with several ensembles in classical, jazz, folk and experimental settings.

I am experienced in preparing students for a range of performances, ensembles, auditions and AMEB exams, as well as fostering a lifelong enjoyment of the instrument.
