Violin Lessons

Hello! A few brief points about who I am:

Violin teacher

Recent graduate of Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying with Goetz Richter and Evgeny Sorkin

Emerging Artist of Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Australian Romantic and Classical Orchestra, and Australian Haydn Ensemble

Member and occasional Concertmaster of Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra

Work at the Sydney String Centre in sales and managing fine instruments

I've been very fortunate to have had some amazing teachers in the past who have shown me that learning an instrument is much more than just a technical exercise, and benefits greatly from a more holistic engagement with music. This can be through experiencing different kinds of performance and performance conditions, finding a variety of resources and media that serve both to inspire and to educate, or by combining practical elements of music with aural and theoretical aspects in order to foster deeper involvement with music as a whole. It's these sorts of lessons that inform my own teaching and that I would love to eventually pass on.

I have experience across a wide varieties of genres and styles, having done a lot of work and research especially in Historical Performance and premiering modern works. Set-up and the physicality of playing and holding the violin is another big area of interest for me, and I'd be happy to help out with figuring out the best combination of chinrest and shoulder-rest, or working on getting a stronger sense of awareness of the body while playing for people who struggle with excess tension or pain.
