Adapted cello lessons with extra support

Hello! I'm Josie. My passion is supporting people to make music. I am a Registered Music Therapist who also works as a strings teacher. My qualifications include a Bachelor of Music (Honours) and a Master in Music Therapy. I offer adapted violin, viola, cello, and ukulele lessons from my home studio in Albany Creek (see note below*).

Adapted lessons are for students of all ages (children and adults) who may benefit from a more flexible and supportive learning approach. This may include students who have found it difficult to access traditional/mainstream music lessons, and/or students with a disability.

Adapted lessons are about tailoring each lesson to a person's unique strengths, support needs, and preferences. This could look like adjusting the pace of the learning, or teaching with a neurodiverse affirming approach. This could also look like exploring different ways of playing your instrument, to make it more accessible or fun!

Cello students: Please note I teach up to Grade 1 AMEB or equivalent.

*Note: As part of my intake process, I also take into consideration whether you (or your child) would benefit from an at-home lesson. This would depend on several factors including your support needs, your location (on the northside), and your preferred lesson time.
