Composition & Arranging

For students with prior theory knowledge, Composition & Arranging explores the language of music through applied score analysis, investigation of form and compositional technique, arranging and writing music.

Class goals & outcomes: To be able to identify, understand and construct musical themes, functions and forms. The aims of this course are to extend basic theory knowledge by developing a stronger comprehension of musical structure, knowledge of how to organise and arrange elements of sound, and confidence in using a variety of compositional techniques.
