Selena Courtness

For over a decade, I've been a dedicated music teacher, guiding and inspiring young musicians. With a background in psychology and a love of music, I've combined these disciplines to develop many outstanding musicians. My teaching aims to instil a love of music and inspire my students to reach new musical heights. I begin by building strong foundations, including correct embouchure and posture, and I provide clear instruction in music theory so my students can play confidently in band settings. For students seeking formal assessment, I guide them through the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) exams. Of the 85+ students who have completed AMEB exams with me, the majority have achieved Honours results, something I'm very proud of. Many of my students have auditioned successfully for NSW Department of Education Arts Unit’s State Music Camps, extension Jazz and Stage Bands and have developed strong improvisation skills. I'm passionate about teaching, and I tailor my lessons to each student's learning style to create a dynamic and enjoyable learning environment. I currently teach students from a range of schools, both at my Roseville studio and onsite, including Baker, Beaumont Road PS, Castle Cove PS, Killara High School, Manly Selective High School, Neutral Bay PS, Roseville PS, Knox, and Shore.
