William Towne

I provide guitar and/or bass lessons for all ages and abilities. I teach many styles ranging from death metal to classical guitar. No matter your skill level and/or musical interests, I can help you improve your technique and knowledge, while sharing the fun of learning and playing music together.

I provide both in-person and online lessons through Teams and/or Zoom. I currently travel to students' houses for one-on-one sessions, but am open to hosting visitors at my residence should circumstance permit. In-person lessons are preferable if travel time/distance is reasonable, but I am always open to online lessons.

I graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2014, studying under renowned UK guitarist Julian Byzantine, and have had many opportunities to perform with and learn from many brilliant musicians. I received my Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) from QUT the following year.

I also teach and have taught music in classroom and studio settings, having gained experience working with students of varying abilities and styles over the years. I also perform guitar and vocal duties in the Brisbane-based progressive metal band, Ahles.

I truly believe people learn best when they have fun; lessons with me are tailored to your personal music tastes with a focus on establishing and maintaining a solid technical foundation, based in the classical style.

I am easygoing and passionate, with a sense of humour (for better or worse!), so don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! I look forward to hearing from you and sharing the fun of learning the guitar!
