Voice/Singing Lessons

Develop skills to shape your voice and sing with expression.

With a friendly, personal and creative approach to teaching Stevi will provide a safe space for you to explore, discover, develop and love your voice. As your teacher/coach she will offer you support, suggestions, help you explore ideas and guide you in your quest to become a better singer/performer — whether singing for your own enjoyment, as a theatre performer or as part of a duo/band.

Lessons involve voice technique, music skills and song delivery

• tips on singing – posture and efficient breathing – sound placement for tone quality – positive voice and singing habits – extending your range – pitch accuracy and ear training – looking after your voice
• singing songs – how songs are built and music theory – the importance of tempo, rhythm and accent – styling/genre techniques – using internet resources

along with
• performance skills – stagecraft – necessary tools and tips – using a microphone
• learning to work with other musicians/music technicians

Stevi has been performing since she was 9 years old. Beginning with kids musical theatre shows and local community performances she has been trained in voice under the guidance of a mix of classical and contemporary singers. Through ongoing involvement with choirs and stage productions throughout the years Stevi has honed her singing and acting skills. She has also performed as a vocalist with duos/trios, small bands and as a backing singer/session musician. Stevi loves facilitating community singing groups, choirs and singing workshops and her passion is the Jazz Voice.
